
The above fingering chart is my preferred fingering for my 17-reed D Key Soprano Sheng (diatonic instrument). I have various 17-reed Shengs of different keys and these Shengs still follow the above fingering arrangement. For example, the above fingering will be transposed down a major second for my 17-reed C Key Soprano Sheng or the above fingering will be transposed up a major second for my 17-reed E Key Soprano Sheng. I used the 17-reed Shengs mainly for accompanying traditional Suona or Dizi solo pieces.
