Sheng – harmonics, altered tone, chords with very large intervals between notes

Hi Vedran,

Thanks for the greeting. I’m fine. The sheng is not able to produce effects such as the harmonics or altered tone. But it is able to play a minor/major 3rd above the orginal note (apply to notes above g2) by covering half of the hole of the bamboo pipe.

Yes, chords with very large intervals between notes is OK for the sheng!

You are welcome 🙂
Thanks!

Regards,
Chris

hi chris

i hope you’re well. i have about 2.5 minutes more to write, and the piece will be done. a couple of last questions: can effects such as the harmonics be produced on the sheng, or any kind of an altered tone? also, is it possible to play chords with very large intervals between notes (over an octave)? thanks a lot for your help, i’ll be happy to send you a .pdf file of the score when i put everything on finale. warm wishes from california
